Nurse Educator INurse Professional Development I Specialist, Healthcare Diversity & Inclusion Practitioner
Bronx born, New York raised, first generation American - Jamaican, I am the sum of my experiences.
My love for books and reading at an early age propelled me into my love for academia. As a self-proclaimed perpetual student I've always sat front row in all my classes wanting to learn new things and get all the information.
I graduated from Temple University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s in Public Health, obtained my Bachelor’s in Nursing from Drexel University in 2008. And graduated from Walden University with a Master’s degree in Nursing Education in August 2017. In 2019, I completed a post-masters certificate in Healthcare Diversity Leadership from Thomas Jefferson University - Institute of Emerging Health Professions and maintain my national Pediatric Nursing certification, and ANCC Nursing Professional Development Specialist board certification.
I became a single mother very early in my pregnancy, and quickly learned the importance of leveling up in Nursing to make more money without working more hours. This is the power of professional development
- leveraging work experience, education and skills to add value to your career.
Leaving the bedside in 2016 , I made the decision to grow in Nursing. As a Clinical Nurse Educator, board certified Nurse Professional Development Specialist, Healthcare Diversity & Inclusion Practitioner, and business owner my passion, purpose and profession has aligned. The fun part is I'm still learning, growing and developing professionally.
Through coaching, mentoring, educating and consulting, I illustrate the significance of how emotional intelligence can be used to be an amazing Nurse. The ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict while caring for patients is the essence of Nursing.
As the owner and CEO of New Nurse Academy, LLC., I shorten the learning curve for nursing education, professional development and healthcare diversity and inclusion, making it strategic and clear. I want you to win as. Nurse and look forward to being your personal Nurse Educator.
